The Glass Castle: A Memoir
J. Walls
A friend of mine recommended this ages ago and I finally read it. This book is real, raw and exposed.
In the spirit of the novel . . .
If you were a child and your parents told you that you were leaving your home and could only bring one non-essential thing what would you bring? (p.s. to play this game properly you must know that you are very poor and will likely be living in a home that should be condemned – therefore no Guitar Hero)

Without a doubt........blackberry.
A loaded gun to shoot myself. Who wants to be very poor or living in a house that should be condemned?
A deck of cards.
Booze.
Lots of Loonies - assuming my new neighbour is a stripper and crack whore.
I asked our kids the question. I personally think a deck of cards to play solitaire with because it would just be a matter of time before someone looked over your shoulder and says "hey, put the red 7 under the black 8". The kids smartly suggested a dog.....for company.
