I will agree with Missy that the following books fall in the awesome category:

The Red Tent
The Life of Pi
The Time Traveller's Wife (maybe not awesome but a very intriguing read)

Others not on her list :)
Girl with the Pearl Earring
God of Small Things
Night
A Thousand Splendid Suns

Books I couldn't put down but won't put in the awesome category:

Lovely Bones (awful subject but I couldn't stop reading)
The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency (no high literature here but a good fun read)
Kite Runner
Water for Elephants

I haven't read everything on your list, Missy, but we tend to converge and then diverge in our taste of books, don't we? Thanks for the post!

I wonder how many men will jump on the challenge to read as many books about "women's issues" as possible. ;-)

I dunno, it all seems a little sexist to me? why were only women invited to this challenge ;)

If you read carefully you will see this is not limited to women - the theme is women. Anyone that likes women is invited. Alex, you should go for it. 2 of the books are easy to read, one is a tiny short story and one is non-fiction. Go for it. Jack is a great reader and I know he has read at least one of them. He could easily do it.

Missy, I have read 5 of your books on the list (including Other Boleyn Girl) but none included in the challenge. If you have the books and were willing, I would like to borrow them and I will have them all read in two weeks. Let me know.

Missy, I have read 7 of your books on the list (including Other Boleyn Girl) but none included in the challenge. If you have the books and were willing, I would like to borrow them and I will have them all read in two days. Let me know.

Missy, I have read one of your books on the list but none listed on the challenge. If you have the books and were willing, I would like to borrow them and I will have them all read in two days, have sorted all my kids clothes, washed and put away 6 loads of laundry and baked a banana bread! Let me know. :)

P.s. this is my first comment on the Miss Adventures site!

I can't believe I forgot 100 Years Of Solitude. Also, Eat Pray Love would be great extra reading for the challenge.

WTF! What did I do?
PS - I read Eat Pray Love too but am still one book behind the great Alex. And I am bit embarassed to have read the Other Boleyn Girl. Commute fodder.

This is frightening. I'm sitting in a hotel in Minneapolis right now and thought I would take a break from reading and watching "Cold Case" files on A&E and do my monthly check on the bloggers I know. Scary because I find my name mentioned and scary because the book I was reading is "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Marquez........
I feel so in touch...

Ahhh....Jackie....I knew you were anonymous this whole time. Your monthly check, hey....hmmmmmmm

I can't believe this is such a popular site! I had no idea there was such high-brow discourse going on here; literature AND laundry AND baking. From both men and women! I really need to check in here more often!
For what it's worth, I've read all the books on all the lists, it only took me two hours and I cleaned my house, polished the appliances, cooked dinner and delivered a baby while reading!
